Hannah Montana made a star out of Miley Cyrus, and even after the final season wrapped up five years ago, it continues to be one of the most iconic Disney Channel original series in history. Aside from making Cyrus a household name, it was what made the songs “Best of Both Worlds” and “Nobody’s Perfect” famous. It also inspired a plethora of young girls to pursue their dreams.

5. “When You Wish You Were the Star”

When Miley gets her wish to be alternate persona Hannah Montana all the time, everything just doesn’t seem right. For one thing, her brother Jackson is tormented by people who are only getting close to him just to get close to Hannah, so he ends up turning to a crazy beach hermit. Her father is doing far worse as he ends up marrying a woman who uses his money. As for Hannah’s two best friends, Oliver starts to act like tough-talking and arrogant Rico, while Lilly becomes best friends with Miley’s arch nemesis Ashley and Amber.

4. “Miley Get Your Gum”

Way before Oliver finds out that Hannah Montana is actually his best friend Miley, he has always had the biggest fanboy crush on her. But apparently, Miley doesn’t feel the same way, so she and Lilly come up with a plan to stop this crush before Oliver ends up being crushed himself. At the end of the episode, there is a touching—and hilarious—moment where Hannah reveals her true identity.

3. “We’re All in This Date Together”

High School Musical actor Corbin Bleu makes another guest appearance on the show as Johnny. When Johnny wins a date with Hannah Montana, Miley is obviously thrilled. But the catch is, Rico is expected to tag along. After being fed up with his antics, Hannah lashes out at Rico, and Johnny ends up leaving her after realizing she is just another snobby celebrity.

2. “Miley Says Good-bye (Part 2)”

When Miley is torn between moving back to Tennessee and being with her best friend Lilly, she ends up confiding to her father about it. Mr. Stewart makes matters worse when he starts looking for a house in the area, and Miley is forced to tell Lilly about the decision. Thankfully, things work out in the end when the family decides to buy a ranch located an hour outside Malibu. That way, Miley can be with her horse Blue Jeans and her best friend Lilly at the same time.

1. “Lilly, Do You Want to Know a Secret?”

In the pilot episode for the series, the producers wanted to highlight one of the show’s main themes: friendship. Before finding out who Hannah Montana really is, Lilly buys two tickets so she and Miley can watch a show of the world-famous pop star. Miley shrugs her off by saying that she isn’t a fan, so Lilly ends up heading to the show alone. At the near end of the episode, her secret is out when Lilly sees their friendship bracelet on Hannah’s wrist.
